Microsoft has updated the license agreement to allow customers who have purchased a retail copy of Office 2013 to transfer the software to a new system. The original terms of the agreement did not allow for this. Users of Office365 products were already allowed this convenience. This does not mean you can install Office on multiple computers, but you will not have to buy a retail copy of Office every time you replace a PC.

It is about the least fun thing you might ever do on a computer. But one day you'll suffer a hard drive failure, a malware infection, or maybe even accidentally run a destructive restore and risk losing everything. Pictures from the last ten years, the music collection you've spent so much time (and money!) growing, the important presentation or term paper, all gone. Luckily, there is a cheap, easy way to backup your information to the cloud, and that way is with Carbonite.

For as little as $59 per year, you can easily and securely back up all the data on your PC to Carbonite's servers. Once you've signed up, Carbonite runs in the background and monitors your files for changes, and uploads backup copies to their server. You don't have to manage anything, but you can easily check if a file has been backed up just by looking at it's icon. Carbonite will place a dot on each file with a color coded indicator. Green means it is all backed up, yellow signifies it is in line to be backed up, and red means it has not yet backed up.

In the event you do have a computer issue that requires a restore, you can restore files individually or all at once, to the same PC or to a shiny new computer. Carbonite supports both the Mac and PC, and you can even use your iPad or iPhone to view files you have backed up with their free App.

Carbonite really is the easiest way to make sure your system is backed up, and that is why we have become resellers of their service. If you are interested in the service, or if you have any questions about how it works, feel free to contact us and we will be happy to help. You won't be disappointed.

PC Cleanup Apps

Don't take our word for it; Ars Technica has an article detainling how the PC cleanup services you see advertised on TV are a scam.
